Dining Out
Livigno is offering a wealth of restaurants with local and international specialties. Part of these are the famous pizzerias with their mandatory 'mezzo litro vino rosso', half a litre of red house wine. Due to the tax exempt status food is still relatively inexpensive, compared to other famous ski areas elsewhere. Pizzas are prized between 7.000 Lit. und 12.000 Lit. (appr. US$ 4 and US$ 7)

With the pizzerias I should mention that most of them only are open at night starting at 7pm. If a pizzeria is serving pizza also at noon time, it is posted with the words: 'Pizza mezzogiorno'.

Try a pizza with local mushrooms or the famous bresaola (air dried beef), or frutti di mare (seafood) as shown on the picture. Real yummy!

As we are no real connoissors and don't go out that much, we can't write about a lot of places. One place however we would like to mention as it has provided to us over the years a consistently satisfactory service. The food is excellent and children are very welcome.

The name of the place: Hotel Touring

Federico Fabbian is the pizza chef.

He speaks German quite well as he has lived and worked in Germany for a couple of years. By the way it is not common that people speak German in Livigno. Most of the time however we get along with English.

His pizzas are excellent.

Francesco Nardone knows us for years and always recignizes us immediately (Now is that goon or bad?)
His service is prompt and friendly, the customer is king.

This time for example the kitchen had forgotten to add liquor to the icecream sundae. He spontaneously brought us two bottles of liquor and put them on the table to help ourselves. He did not remove them before we left.
